We are on the Road to Wrestlemania where the biggest storylines of the year will kick-off. WWE will try to come up with surprises to garner attention from the pro-wrestling fans, as much as possible. This Sunday marks the final stop prior to the biggest event of the year in the form of Fastlane pay-per-view. A big heel-turn might be on the card that could set up a Wrestlemania rivalry.
The Smackdown tag team championships match is set for Fastlane where Shane McMahon and The Miz will challenge The Usos. Going by a report from The Dirty Sheets, the current plan is to turn the younger McMahon into a villain on this show. This will prohibit the contenders from re-capturing the titles and thereby planting the seeds for a Wrestlemania match between Shane McMahon and The Miz.
This is a long time planning that was accepted by the man in concern, himself. Apparently, Shane McMahon can’t wait to adopt a heel gimmick on the Smackdown roster if not for his father, Vince McMahon. The Chairman of the Board is not in the favor of changing his son’s on-scree character which could be the only reason that the Fastlane title match could witness an otherwise outcome.
He does not believe that keeping The Miz as a babyface will not earn more cheers from the fans like his son regularly receives. So he is still against the idea. To address his pledge, the WWE creative team has come up with a backup plan which have also been nixed out by the Boss. Here’s more from wwfoldschool.com,
“A plan was suggested to Vince where Shane & Miz would recapture the SmackDown Tag Team Titles and move forward as a babyface tag team into WrestleMania 35, but Vince doesn’t believe a Tag Team Title match is a marketable WrestleMania match. Vince wants both Shane & Miz in key WrestleMania spots and still wants to do Shane McMahon vs. The Miz.”
Vince McMahon wishes to turn The Miz heel again since he can bring out the mean streak like no one else. But it was a long process to turn the Hollywood A-lister into a babyface after several years of trying. It has also been well-received by the fans, for now. So it will be interesting to see whether the creative team pulls the trigger on him when the tag team championship match goes down at Fastlane 2019.
