Daniel Bryan successfully defended his WWE Championship against Kevin Owens and Mustafa Ali at the Fastlane pay-per-view event. He would have already received the next challenger for the biggest event of the year if not for the owner of the WWE. Vince McMahon himself has become the resistance for the most deserving candidate present in the locker room i.e. Kofi Kingston.
As per earlier announcement from WWE.com, Vince McMahon addressed the Kofi Kingston situation on Last night’s Smackdown. He mentioned that this man is a veteran on his own rights but in the mid-card scene. He was always a B-plus player and will remain the same way. There’s no way that he is getting a WWE Championship opportunity at Wrestlemania.
The New Day did continue with their pledge with significant logics alongside the WWE Universe who also rooted for Kofi Kingston. Hence, Vince McMahon decided to announce a Gauntlet match for next week. Kofi has to defeat Randy Orton, Sheamus, Cesaro, Samoa Joe and Rowan in this match! If he wins then he can have his title match at Wrestlemania. It seems the punishment towards him continues from The Boss garnering more cheers for the high-flyer.
Previous reports suggested that a big return is on the horizon on Smackdown who will become the next number one contender for WWE Championship at Wrestlemania. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Newsletter hinted that names like Dave Bautista, John Cena, Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, The Undertaker, Kurt Angle, and Bray Wyatt were on the list. But with the amount of momentum Kofi Kingston has by his side, it seems fitting to give him a chance.
The potential challenger has become the hotcake for the WWE Universe for the last few weeks. He delivered some back to back mind-blowing performances on Smackdown and Elimination Chamber. It forced the creative team to insert him into the title picture. He’s been waiting for a long time to get into the main event capacity which is still due. Hopefully, he pulls off a miracle next week to cement his spot at Wrestlemania 35.
