Speculations were already there about John Cena potentially joining the Fast and Furious franchise. He featured in a recent Instagram video with Vin Diesel to spread the news. Now WWE has officially accepted the fact that their former franchise player has indeed received the biggest movie project of his career.

Cena is no one new to movies

In a recent announcement from WWE, John Cena will indeed be a part of Fast and Furious ninth installment in which Vin Diesel plays the titular character. Interestingly, the other popular WWE Superstar from the movie franchise, The Rock will not be a part of this upcoming edition. So Cena may come as a handy replacement for him.

Fast and Furious 9 will have a global release on May 22nd, 2020. According to the reports of Deadline, John Cena will play a bada** character in the film. The Rock, on the other hand, will be busy releasing a spin-off from the movie named “Hobbs & Shaw”, which also star Jason Statham and Roman Reigns alongside himself.

Cena with his 16th world title

John Cena quoted the broken news by Deadline to accept the truth that he is extremely honored to join the Fast and Furious movie star cast. Here’s what he had to say via social media handle,

“For nearly 20 years, the Fast Franchise has entertained fans and created some of the biggest cinematic moments in history. It’s an incredible honor to join this franchise and this family.”

The former world champion was looking for the biggest break in the Hollywood industry that might have finally come to him. Playing an interesting character in one of the biggest movie franchises of the world could be a turning point in his Hollywood career. It also means that John Cena is not coming back to the WWE for wrestling, anytime soon.
