WWE is bringing back the surprise elements in their programming as we head towards Summerslam. To heat up the second biggest event of the year, we will now be having another special show on the WWE Network by the end of this month. It is going to be an exclusive Smackdown special show named Smackville.
WWE.com has confirmed this special event presented by Smackdown to take place on Saturday, July 27th at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. The main event of the night will feature Kofi Kingston defending the WWE Championship against Dolph Ziggler and Samoa Joe in a Triple Threat match. This is not the only segment confirmed for Smackville though as they advertised the Intercontinental Championship to be on the line too.
Here’s more from WWE.com regarding this WWE Network special,
“The explosive in-ring action will include a main event Triple Threat Match for the WWE Championship in which Kofi Kingston will be challenged by Dolph Ziggler and Samoa Joe.
In addition, newly crowned Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura will go head-to-head with former titleholder Finn Bálor in a rematch from WWE Extreme Rules. The evening will also feature a special musical performance by Elias.”
It’s interesting to see that Kofi Kingston will have another tough title defense en route to Summerslam where perhaps Randy Orton will be waiting for him. Hopefully, he retains showing great resiliency and thereby cement his legacy as one of the greatest WWE Champions of all-time.
Even prior to this Smackdown special, WWE Raw will present the biggest reunion in the history of the company on this Monday night. Ric Flair, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Kevin Nash, Kurt Angle, Shawn Michaels, Jerry Lawler, Eric Bischoff, Jimmy Hart, Santino Marella, D-Von Dudley, Shane Helms, Hulk Hogan, Scott Hall, Sgt. Slaughter, Ted DiBiase Sr. and The Boogeyman are confirmed names for the show.
