Just a couple of days after we you the news of a Trish Stratus’ return at Summerslam 2019, Shawn Michaels is the new name under speculation. After what happened on this week’s Smackdown Live, the speculation was evident to happen. The legend appeared on the show as a special guest on Miz TV. But that turned out to be devastating as the show-off interrupted landing a super-kick to his chin.
Dolph Ziggler then posted a picture on his Twitter account demanding a match against the Show-stopper, himself. This fuelled up the rumors whether Shawn Michaels is lacing up his boots for the 32nd edition of Summerslam. Now fans must have been excited to see him back inside the squared circle, yet again. But unfortunately, it’s may not be happening.
Dave Meltzer confirmed it in his report on Wrestling Observer Newsletter stating that WWE does not intend to book Shawn Michaels vs. Dolph Ziggler at Summerslam. Interestingly, the source mentioned that the show-off will neither face Michaels nor Ziggler on August 11th. But he will definitely be wrestling on that night against a different superstar,
“We’ve also confirmed that there will be a Dolph Ziggler match on the show, but we were told it would not be against either The Miz (even though TV certainly lead you in that direction) or Shawn Michaels, who is not wrestling on the show.”
Additionally, Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated reported that this segment was advocated by Shawn Michaels himself. He wanted Dolph to mention his earlier comeback at Crown Jewel as an embarrassment so to put over the show-off. We may not see any continuation of this storyline which may remain as a one-off angle on Smackdown. Here’s more from Barrasso,
“Michaels, who was originally slated to do color commentary on the show, advocated for Ziggler to use the line slamming his 2018 return, Sports Illustrated has learned.”
