One of the highly anticipated matches is waiting in the WWE schedule as we wait for a former two time UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez to make his in-ring debut. He will be challenging WWE Champion Brock Lesnar for the title in a marquee match. The contest will go down as the potential main event match of the Crown Jewel PPV.
It will be the fourth overall PPV to be hosted by the WWE in Saudi Arabia night set on October 31st night that is the night of Halloween. Brock Lesnar vs. Cain Velasquez is a mega attraction for the fans as this one is going to be a rematch between them where Lesnar will look forward to seeking retribution. In case you don’t know, Cain captured the UFC heavyweight title in 2010 defeating Lesnar in an MMA competition.
With more mainstream audience watching this match, WWE officials are said to be heavily involved in this contest. As per the reports of Slice Wrestling, the potential plan around this match is now available. Brock Lesnar is the favorite to retain his belt at Crown Jewel. But that won’t be the end of the storyline as these two will compete in another rematch, next year. Here’s more in a carried update from wwfoldschool.com,
“According to Slice Wrestling, Cain has signed a 7-figure multi-year contract with WWE and his match against Lesnar in Saudi Arabia is expected to lead to a rematch next year.
The current plan is for Lesnar to retain the WWE Championship at Crown Jewel 2019 and then a rematch taking place between the two former UFC Heavyweight Champions again at WrestleMania 36 in 2020.”
There’s an additional reason as to why WWE may drag the storyline forward to 2020 as this one has the potential to interest more fans to WWE programming. The company is hoping to have MMA/UFC fans check out their product because of former UFC rivals Brock Lesnar and Cain Velasquez. They will be watching the program between the two former UFC Heavyweights and may transition to pro-wrestling lovers.
